    Default a few quick questions

hi just 3 questions i need answering please

i am using notepad++, when i have done a change do i just save it and use the file name it provides or does it need changing to something specific?

i am using filezilla to upload, do i have to drag and drop each folder i have changed or does it update automatically?

is there anything i need to do to back up my site or does it all get saved while doing the above?

thanks in advance for your responces

    1. If you opened the file in Notepad++ as, say, index.php, it will save it as the same file name.

    2. You'll have to drag and drop everything you want changed. Filezilla (or any other FTP program I know of) won't auto-update. (Interesting idea, though.)

    3. You need to do your own backups. Search the forum for 'backup' for a lot of threads.

I work with WSFTP Professional and if I highlight a file on the remote server and click "Edit", it renders the file (opened) on my local copy of Crimson Editor.

If I edit the file and SAVE it, then close Crimson, it will port (FTP) the saved version back to the remote server.

If I am doing a detailed edit, I usually FTP a copy of the file to my local drive before editing it - then save the edited copy on my local drive.

I then back-up the original on the server, before porting back the edited version.

I think it is Kuroi who advises that ALL edits should be done on files that reside in a full ZC file-set on a local drive and stored there. In this way, one always has a "backup", because the "originals" of any edits are on the local drive first - before they get ported to the server... Good advice for all ZC users.
