red flag Bad request page when attempting downloads

    Hey all,

I've gone through all the tutorials and I believe I have all my ducks in a row. I've set up a downloadable product, uploaded the file to downloads, set the attributes and am getting a green dot for the product in the attributes box.

When a customer gets the link to download and clicks it, he gets a page that says....

    Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.

The link that shows in the url box is http://downloadablespanishresources....ortstories.zip

I am not sure why it is going to /pub as the files are in the /download folder and I am not sure what the /.odbsktmitrtjhmiu
    is....

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Michael

You're right ... bumping is bad form. It's more appropriate to actually add more useful information to your post so that people have more to go on when trying to post an answer. Insufficient information leads to inadequate replies or no replies at all.

    As to your question ...
Have you looked at your server's errorlog to find out what it's saying is causing the error?

That URL is a result of having the more secure "download by redirect" enabled on your site.
If you don't want the added security offered by that option, turn it off in Admin->Configuration->Attribute Settings, and then everyone can freely download all your files from the /download/ folder instead, as long as they successfully guess the filename, or hopefully buy your product.

You really need to get the details from the apache errorlog in order to know why the problem with the /pub/ folder is happening.
Perhaps your permissions on the pub folder are inadequate?
Perhaps your hosting company doesn't allow PHP to create symlinks, thereby breaking the redirect feature?
