Default Upgrading Zen 1.3.0 to most recent version

I have just added Zen Cart to my site. The version Startlogic offers is PHP Version: 4.4.7 (Zen Cart: 1.3.0.2); Server OS: Linux and I'm so new to this it's unreal. No addons or anything, just the bare bones. Can someone help me upgrade this in english? Thanks =)

    This is in English:

My strong suggestion, though, would be to install the latest version (1.3.8a) manually:

Lots of good info in the Tutorials/FAQ above.

Thank you for your response. I'm caught up on something. I uploaded crimsoneditor and Winmerge and started following the instrustions. This however doesn't make sense to me:

    1. Preparation
Unzip a copy of the new version of Zen Cart™, upload it to your webserver into a "demo" folder, and install the new version into a separate database, and include the Demo products. This is just for a place for you to play with the new version and get used to its new features. These can be deleted after conversion is complete.

I made a new folder within my site directory as "demo", but not sure how to install into a seperate database? Isn't that what I have done my making a new directory in my site? Thanks again.

What that's saying is: install 2 complete installations of Zencart. One in the root of your site, to be the eventual working site, and another (with its own database) in a subdirectory (like www .stevesh.com/demo) with the demo products installed so you can refer to it to see how things work. I have several test carts installed for trying stuff out before I add them to the working sites.
