Header problems

Hello. I have problems to modify the Header portion of my site
http://cablemaster.com.sg/ecable/ I want to add a logo at the top left corner, want to change the header picture and change the height and width of the banner. I've read the threads and tutorials and was told to change in tpl_header.php and stylesheet.css but after making some changes the site do not change. Really need help.

As there are many items that can be addressed you need to focus on one and get it corrected then move to another..
Provide your details of what single item you are trying to get displayed, what file&path you are editing, what your edit look like/content etc

Thanks for the quick reply kobra. One of the problem is to set the top banner width & height. In stylesheet.css it shows,

position: relative;
background: url("../images/hd.jpg");
background-repeat: no-repeat;
height: 171px;
width: 1000px;
}
I want to shorten the height so I changed height : 120px; the headerpic do not change upon refresh. I have set the permission to 777. What is wrong then.

Yes I was editing that file. I managed to alter the height of the image hd.jpg outside ZC, and after ftp back and refresh, it succesfully updated

Most of the times the refresh do not update immediately and sometimes not at all. My slogan1 ~ CABLE MASTER ECABLE and slogan 2 ~ Your Online Store for Cable & Cable Accessories just got refreshed, after about half hour. What could be the reason?

Clear your browser cache or close the browser and reboot

I have cleared my cache & rebooted but still the header do not change. I suspect something is wrong when I change the stylesheet.css. I want to center the words CABLE MASTER ECABLE and the 2nd line Your Online .... should come just below it.

The codes I edited are as follows :-

Looks like this might have something to do with your non-standard template & the files that came with it
#slogan & #headerpic among others are not part of the default install
Maybe there is assistance where you obtained this template
