Adding attributes to multiple products at one time.

Is it possible to add attributes to an entire category. Or is it possible to copy attributes from one item to another? I have several products that have similar or the same optional attributes and find it so time consuming to add individual attributes to each and every item. Also, if I need to make changes to a price for a certain attribute, I want it to change on all my products with that attribute, and not have to do each one individually. I appreciate any help or advice offered.

Yes (short answer).

After you've added attributes to a product, scroll up a bit on the attributes controller screen - there you will see a number of buttons that allow you to manage and even copy attributes to other products and categories.
