Remove the CHECK FOR UPDATES button in admin section

Thanks to those that replied but i already have

admin >> my store >> Show if version update available: set to False

my problem is that when it is clicked it causes the browser to crash ( both FF and IE - i dont know why.. nor care )

so id like to remove the button in question to stop any accidental or deliberate pressing... im not after messing with code... i just with to comment out the specific bit of code so it doesn't appear..

any ideas people?

Would you care if the button that customers clicked to send money your way, didn't work... ?

Sometimes, a problem that seems specific (or isolated) to a particular element has a wider consequence. It may be in your interests to find out why that function crashes the browser, because similar functions may have the same effect.

fairestcape: yes.. i would... but i have never had a reported problem and we test on IE, FF, Chrome and (fingers crossed) not had any problems...

but you have me worried now!!! haha

Steven300: oh.. you've lost me... thats going far to deep into technical stuff.. all i do is CSS and minimal php to make things pretty!.. i leave the proper & hard work to the Zen team!

If this is a cURL problem, you may have big problems taking credit card payments through a payment gateway (eg: paypal, nochex, authorizenet)
