Is there a way to set up free downloads without purchasing?

I'm using zen cart 1.3.8. I would like to set up a download from the document_general_info_display.php page in which the customer does not have to login or even create an account.

Basically like the downloads on the zen cart contributions pages. I'm using Click Counter from php junkyard. Everything was working great until I realized that the file will not download unless I'm signed in under the right account.

Is there a better script out there that would encrypt the download location like zen cart does for purchased downloads. Better yet, is there a way to do this with zen cart without any additional scripts?

A simple download link from the page is not sufficient?

You can run them free and install COWA and not require shipping info.
