How Scalable is Zen-Cart?

I am evaluating several shopping cart packages and while Zen-Cart is a strong candidate, I don't how scalable it is. I mean in terms of database entries.

What is the upper limit of number of customers it can manage?

Can it hold 10,000 customers?
Can it hold 100,000 customers?
Can it hold 1,000,000 customers?

That would mostly depend on your server. I don't know about quantities of customers, but there are Zen Carts with hundreds of thousands of products, and that would have to mean millions of customers before long.
