customize header

I just installed my first zen cart via fantastico. it is version Zen Cart 1.3.8a.

i need help in where to go to modify the header and logo. i found the images and changed them, but the header has the wording "your sales message here" so the header_bkg i did is not as tall as i had made it.

also can you give me a link for easy to follow instructions for adding product to the cart?

BTW, it is not a good idea to use Fantastico to install. A manual install will save you headaches down the road. But Fantastico is fantastic for just trying out the zen cart.
