I chose to develop an ecommerce cart for a client as my college project, however I am finding that i dont have much to declare as my own work after customizig my cart in order to get some good marks.Can anyone suggest what sort of things i could add that i could pass as my own work, you know thigs that can have my own code etc. I dont know if zen cart allows me to add my own files and how , apart from the override system. In retrospect maybe i should have chosen something else but its a bit late for that now.

How about a captcha mod for the 'contact us' page but instead of one where an image is displayed, a question is asked where the user has to type in the correct answer. I don't think Zen Cart has such a mod so it would be your own code and you could take a look at the existing image based mods as a starting point. If that's too difficult or you don't have enough time to do it, there are simpler things to do but that's all I can think of at the moment

Some more details about the function of the site and design goals might let us suggest more specific customizations you could make. A link to see what you have would be nice too.

You can add your own version of most of the storefront code using the template/override system, and you can change admin code too, though there is not an override system in place there yet.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. Basically this will be an online shop to sell day to day household products just like stuff you get when you go to the local supermarket. So i want to give it a real personal feel more than just template/overrirde system customization. Unfortunately everything's still on my pc so no link yet to show u exactly what i'm talking about. I'm gonna try and have a go at the captcha mod, and meanwhile if you guys think of anything new i would appreciate your thoughts if you post it here for me, thank you again.

You *can* change any of them, but unless you know what you are doing you can mess yourself up big time. I wouldn't go changing admin functions without a very specific purpose.

You say you want to give the site a personal feel; the template is just the place to do that, as you can make it look "non-institutional" in a multitude of ways. Think of some ways the pages could look or be organized that would feel friendly to you. Chances are, you can get them with some template work.
