Stupid question, but...how do I add a product???

I've spent most of my time editing the CSS and making the store front look like the client wants, but now I need to add some test products for the listing categories but have no idea how to do that...I looked in the Tutorials section but what it says is go to Categories/Products, click on the category folder then click Add Product - this button does not exist! So I have no idea where to go to add a product....help?

You need to keep clicking through the categories until you reach the lowest level, where you should then see a New Product button.

I'm clicking direct into the Categories/Product section where I see a list of all the categories (in folder form) and there are no buttons there. If I click Edit all it does is allow me to edit the category details and if I click into the folder there is either a test product (already put there) or an empty list with no other buttons at all. I'm wondering if there's some kind of problem with the admin privileges on my side...
