Product description layout

At the suggestion of some forum members I have increased the size of my product image. However, the product title and description now looks terrible. Part of it is on the right hand side of the image and the rest is below.

I think I have two options and would like some advice on how best to achieve each of them.

Option 1. Center the product image within the center column and place the product title and description below the image.

Option 2. Move the side boxes in the right hand column to the left hand column and then eliminate the right hand column totally.

Any advice as to how to achieve these options or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

maybe the other option would be to increase the width of your site from 750 px to lets say 900px ? current width of your page is small for all the content.

you can also modify tpl_product_info_display.php and arrange the code blocks that handle the display of product info , product name ,etc if you want to stay in 750 px size ..

you can disable the right column. for the whole site or per page in the templates/your-template/common/tpl_main_page.php
you can use the admin to switch the right boxes to the left column.

You can change the layout of your product page using CSS and template/your-template/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php
You can also look into the free download section their are different add ons for different layouts you might find something you like

Looks ok with maybe one or two tweaks.

Personally i'd do one of two things, reduce the size of your image slightly (not much) or simply widen the page.

It looks like you have standard width which i think is 700 px wide, i always prefer about 950 wide, this will widen your center column.

Remeber you can have the product image as big as you like with the 'click for larger image'.

If that's all your going to have in the right column, I would just get rid of it and put those boxes in the left. But, I would also widen it, the layout is very skinny. If you widen it and get rid of the right column, the product listing page will be shorter which means more product info is seen right away, without having to scroll down the page. You could make the product image in the listing a tad bit smaller.

You might want to take a look at this mod, it places your additional images under the main image with your product description, etc. to the right. I think this would work for you.

Thanks very much for the advice. For starters I think I will increase the width to 950px. I checked in Analytics and the percentage of users with screen resolutions less than 950px is only about 3%.

I'll look into the mod recommended. It sounds good. Between that and the possibility of eliminating the right hand column, I think I will improve the look and feel of the site.
