application error Moving site contents to different host, but keeping the same database?

So, I'm moving the site from sub.domain.com to domain.com and it doesn't work out of the box just like that. I REALLY don't want to reinstall and repatch and remod and whatever...

Am I correct in understanding that I only need to change the values in /inclues/config.php and /admin/includes/config.php ?

I changed all the sub.domain.com entries to domain.com but upon loading the index.php it still prompts me for an install (but says it can go for an upgrade, so I must be doing something kinda right?)

DB stays the same, user/passes as well, just the physical (or probably logical) location of the files.

    thanks,

    -Tim

Should like you may not have correctly adjusted the absolute paths to your site, also in the configure.php files.

That's just the thing, I've not changed anything - the paths are the same because its on the root level of the same host! There aren't any paths to speak of.

Looks like I'm doing a full fresh install and using a different prefix, but then what?

    /sigh

Are you saying that the subdomain and the domain mapped to the same location? Normally a subdomain maps to folder within the site.

you know I'm not sure about that, is there any way for me to check?

    like running a phpinfo?

    [edit]

I think I understand what you mean now. I have a user cp that I create the subdomain through, and it's like a whole 'nother virtual server, I can have different operating systems across subdomains and everything, it's not just a symbolic link. Although setting it up like that may solve a LOT of my problems with other stuff..
