Discounts for "trade" customers?

Hi

I'd like to implement a system whereby trade customers would get an X percent discount if their order is over Y value.

The discount pricing group system seemed to be the way to do this, as it doesn't require the customer to enter any kind of code and is automatic.. but I can't work out how to only make the discount occur if they spend more than a certain amount.

Any suggestions wonderful Zenoids?

While I am no expert on php, I think this could be achieved quite easily by using some nifty conditionals (IF > ELSE)...

IF the customer is part of a Group Pricing category AND his/her shopping cart value EXCEEDS £XYZ, then PROCEED TO CHECKOUT, ELSE display an ALERT MESSAGE.

You could probably find similar conditionals elsewhere, and hack then to suit your needs.
