    Default Composite Products

    Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is at all possible to have composite products in Zen Cart.

    For example:

I have products: chair, table and umbrella. I sell these individually but also sell them as part of a package; garden set.

The garden set has a reduced price overall but is made of these three products already in the catalogue.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Kez

While inventory is an issue - - You can just create a product with all three
Or the set and as attributes each item in it's variants

You can also create products which are changed into their composite parts when added to a shopping cart. DrByte has discussed an example of this elsewhere on the forum.

    Hi chaps,

Thanks for the responses. Just thought I'd let you know my eventual solution.

Due to the nature of my business (middle man),inventory was not important to me. So, under the guidance of previous threads I simply added a comma delimited string field to the products table in the dB which specified the ids of products contained in that package.

A bit of coding let me parse this field to an INT array and I was able to display to customers the relevant information from each composite product.

At uni I despised Java but now I appreciate its similarity to php! It's funny, you never appreciate it when your young! :) Kind of wished I paid more attention now :)

Have to say, what you guys have produced is brilliant. Admittedly confusing in some elements of the code but none the less your function files steer those with some programming knowledge on the course for utter customisation.

Never appreciated it before but here here for open source!!

    Many thanks

    Kez
