Default have a few questions - need to add a new side category

My web designer bailed on me, so please bear with me as I'm learning more and more. I've been doing fairly well so far with product additions, but I would like to add a new category to the side menu. It currently looks like this:

I would like to add a new section to look like this:

I don't have many vehicle applications, so this should be okay. Also, I'm wondering if I can link 1 product to multiple categories, or do I have to duplicate to another category?

    Thanks for the help!

Hi and Welcome to the Forum.

Best suggestion I can offer is to download the Blank Sidebox Module; use Free Software Addons link at top of page.

Will take some code massaging to get the look the same.

You can link a product to as many categories as you like. It can appear in a product type category, a vehicle type category, a manufacturer category, etc.

The blank sidebox mod will let you hard-code a list of category links, but they will not expand to subcategories etc. without extensive custom coding. Your best bet is to install Categories Dressing and make the vehicle type categories a separate group with its own heading. The heading can be styled to look identical to the "Categories" heading.

That's wonderful, how do I link a product to multiple categories?

I'm not quite sure I understood fully, I need to install "Categories Dressing"? How does that work? Can you provide me with a link so I can check it out?

I'm very much looking forward to this! The website has come along well, and is exciting!

In admin > Catalog > Attributes Controller, go to a product with attributes, and click on Multiple Categories Link Manager at the top.

There are some example shots in the Categories Dressing support thread, posts 501-510, as well as some people who have given links to their sites.

On another note, how do I rename the Manufacturers tab label to say something else (instead of Manufacturers)

Use the Developers Toolkit in admin > Tools to search for the exact wording you want to change. Among the results will be the language file and line number where this is defined; you can edit that file and change the definition as you please.

Remember to save the edited file under a /your_template/ subfolder (same structure as the /classic/ folder you will see in the folder that contains the file).

Thanks, I did that, but it doesn't seem to help solve my problem. I'm looking to change the text "Manufacturers:" in this pic to something else.

    This is the manufacturers sidebox.
