Default Template Monster - how big a mistake will I be making?

    Hello all,

I have fallen in love with a Zen Cart template from Template Monster. I have not yet purchased it, I haven't even got my webhosting account yet-- but I was wondering whether this template will be a headache for me if I don't need to modify it much?

Graphically, I only need to modify the background image and the header. Otherwise, I like the way the whole site works and looks, except I will have to install a different shipping module (I am in Canada and would like to use Canada Post) and use less currencies -- at least that's all I think can of so far.

    Any thoughts?

Do some cross browser testing on their demo site (historically some of their templates failed this, but hopefully they've got that sorted now.

Then if your changes are minor as described, you should be OK. The installation of a shipping module shouldn't affect the template.

Many templates from third-party providers are known to use heavily-modified code - sometimes achieving a "desired look" ahead of functional efficiency.

Bear in mind that as these templates use code that tends to be significantly different from a standard (core) template, help on the forum may occasionally be difficult to find.

Dont buy those templates, or you can buy them and probably will have to get someone to recode it. Reason is that so fart I see all of their templates heavily modify zencart to the extent that many default features which can be set in admin doesnt work well, and many modules can not be installed on these sites using such templates.
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

Keep in mind that the templating system is changing with Zen Cart 2.0, so any template purchased for 1.3.x won't work with 2.0.
