Question about customizing email layout

Hi,

I'm in the processing of customizing my email layouts and came across a template named email_template_default.html.

Could someone tell me the purpose of this file?

I thought it would be for sending emails from admin, but I'm assuming email_template_direct_email.html is used for that.

I was under the impression it was used as a fallback file if one of the others templates is missing. However, I what values content it brings in for $EMAIL_SUBJECT and $EMAIL_MESSAGE_HTML.

Guess you could try removing one of the email templates and see if default kicks in to save the day.
