enabling cURL support in php on local pc

Hello.

I purchased the Zen Cart manual and am in the process of installing the cart on a local domain. Everything was going perfectly...until I began installation and I am being given this message:

"CURL not compiled into PHP - notify server administrator more info..."

I also get an inital message, prior to this which says this:

"Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart™.
You are seeing this page for one or more reasons:
This is your first time using Zen Cart™ and you haven't yet completed the normal Installation procedure.
If this is the case for you, Click here to begin installation.


Your /includes/configure.php and/or /admin/includes/configure.php file contains invalid path information and/or invalid database-connection information.
If you recently edited your configure.php files for any reason, or maybe moved your site to a different folder or different server, then you'll need to review and update all your settings to the correct values for your server.

I have done everything to a T...no errors have been made on my part. I have checked and rechecked everything. I followed the manual and went into the php configuration and changed the ;extension to read extension Still nothing.

I restarted everything and tried it again. Still nothing.

I am running the v1.3.8a.

If you're feeling generous, I'm open to suggestion.

For anyone else experiening this problem...I solved it by doing what I do whenever I have a problem with any other software program: I shut down the computer. Wait 30 seconds. Restart.

Now everything is fine. This is also what he suggests (in the manual) for the initial install. Which I did. But since I had to alter some settings in the ini files, it stands to reason that I would have to repeat the restart.

I now have Zen installed and am learning the nuances of the program.
