    Default Main Page Layout questions

    Hi.
I've got this far but have hit a problem or two that I can't solve.
    My site is here http://www.thewhitingpost.com.
On the main page I downloaded some time ago the add on to display each category image/name. I want to edit the layout so that the images are larger, text is displayed within the image box, add borders etc. Problem is I don't know which file this content is on.
I understand html and css but am a beginner when it comes to php.

    I appreciate your help.
    Hokey

if you know the module you downloaded, is best to ask related question in support section for that module if there is any ..

looking at your site .. you can modify some feature of that module using CSS..

    #categoryListBoxContents

you can find this id in your CSS , is grouped with other id's and uses same properties as other part of zencart ....

Images are controlled by zencart .. you can change the size from ZC admin area, but any changes to image will effect other product Images as well.

    Hello Hokey,

You would be very surprised to find out that you don't have to deal with programming to adjust your layout the way you want.

Zen-team did a great job to enable easier way, so....

Just open admin panel, and take a look in Configuration
    There you can configure:
    - Images
    - Product listing
    - Product info
    - Layout settings

    and lot of other configurations.
First, take a look overthere, and then try with CSS and template files.

    Hi.
    Thanks for the replies.
I will try the changes suggested using the admin panel. I had done some but will delve deeper.
Depending on the success there, I will also look at #categoryListBoxContents and see if any other changes can be made.
I'll post an update when I've tried these out.
    Many thanks

No joy on the layout issues really.
Still too much padding by the looks of it and when I've tried to adjust image sizes in the admin area, it doesn't make any changes.

What do you exactly want to do with your images?

I checked your images and I saw that you uploaded images 200 x 200 px ( actually width varies ).

    Now:
At PRODUCT LISTING page you configured images to be 80 x 80, but, if your images is 69 x 200 px, like your clothing2, then it shows as 28 x 80 sized image.
You can see here that image is resized proportionaly.

At PRODUCT INFO page, your images are configured to 200 x 200, but it's displayed as 69 x 200. The same story.

LARGER IMAGE: If you click on larger image - it displays the originaly size of your image: 69 x 200 pixels.

    What's the remedy ?

    1. You should make a model ( background ) of your image ( for example: 600 x 600 px - something what I used in faktor.rs ), then - with PhotoShop or any other program that you use, modify your images - apply them on that model, and save it as new image.
Then you upload your images to server.
    -----------------------------------------------
They will be proportionaly resized, but you will always have configured sizes ( 80 x 80 and 200 x 200 ) and your larger image will really be larger ( original size 600 x 600 )

    2. You can also upload three different images ( small one, _MED, and _LRG ). So that zen-cart doesn't have to calculate their sizes ( some guys said that it has influence on the speed of your site )

    -----------------------------------------------
    And....
    something else.....
Try to show your images in parts.
For example your clothing2 - you can divide it in one main image and one or two additional images.
It will give you possibility to show more in details.
