i am using 1.3.8 and I would like to add an image to the left of the URL on the URL bar. Example: the black and orange swirl image to the left of zen-cart.com is what I would like to duplicate for my website. any suggestions? thanks in advance

That is called favicon. First of all you have to create the image using any of the free favicon generator (just google favicon). Then look into the wiki there are instructions on how to add favicon to Zen cart
