Default When someone signs up for an account can I set the HTML email setting as default?

When someone signs up for news letters can I set the HTML as the defaut setting of choice? Right now it's set as plan text.

So when someone goes to the sign up for new account page then it will have HTML checked off instead of TEXT? I'd like to the customer to beable to choose on there own but I'd like the default choice to be HTML that is already check. After I did that seeing I still see it's check off as TEXT instead HTML. Or is ther a way I can just take the text option off?

Ok it was my fault. That option is under the customer detail set the Show Newsletter Checkbox to 2
and check the Customer Default Email Preference to 1
