Default Re: trying to install on godaddy server errors on install

The real point, to me, about using Windows servers for Zencart is that there's no upside to doing so, so why put up with the hassles?

Not being able to change permissions through FTP is a minor problem, I guess, but a host that makes it difficult to install any legitimate software in one to stay away from, in my opinion.

I want a hosting company that lets me control everything on my site.

Installing Zencart manually, rather than through your host's installer, is preferable for a lot of reasons, especially for the Zencart beginner.

Bottom line though? GoDaddy suck big time!! REALLY!!

I was getting parse times or 60 seconds plus on a GoDaddy shared server..... I know, unbelievable!! Now I get parse times of 0.2 seconds using a Zen Cart certified host.

That's a little off topic though. If you can't get out of your GoDaddy contract or just can't find the time to switch hosts just now then I suggest at least changing your GoDaddy server over to Linux. It doesn't cost anything, doesn't cause any downtime, doesn't affect the look or feel of your site and it's very easy to do on GoDaddy, just either click a button and voila, or if you can't find it just call their technical support and you'll get one of their friendly button clickers to oblige and do it for you
