    Default trying to install on godaddy server errors on install

    I have gone through this link and followed the process so far exactly and I have gotten a bunch of errors on the install page.

    https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=107

    Here are the errors I'm receiving. I am completely new to this and want to simply get it up and running so I can begin to check it out.

    Take a moment to check whether your webserver supports the features required for Zen Cart™ to operate. Please resolve any errors or warnings before continuing. Then click on Install to continue.

    On go daddy I'm using the deluxe hosting

    Thanks for any input, I'm not even sure where to begin as far as resolving these problems.

    With GoDaddy, you might have better luck if you switch to a Linux server

    What will that effect on my website and what not? Or will I not really see a difference or my customers?

    It won't have any effect on the appearance or operation of your site. It might allow you to install Zencart, which is often an adventure with GoDaddy.

    ok, so I have been doing more reading on the forums and it seems that everyone suggests against using godaddy and that they are a terrible hosting co. especially ecommerce and zencart.

    If this is still the case can you recommend to me a great hosting company?

    Here are some hosts I have found that are recommended by Zen Cart. Is this what you guys would recommend? Also which one of these?

    * Camelot Hosting
    * Blue Host
    * Host Monster
    * JSWeb
    * Terra Network

    I am having a similar problem as the OP, but the difference is I am getting that the files are not writeable.

    I am Using Godaddy ( I am not able to change this)

    I have tried in both the user control panel on Godaddy to change the permissions. I have made sure that on my system before I upload the files that the read only is unchecked. I have downloaded Filezilla, connected to my host, transferred over the files and changed the CHMOD to 777, and I am still not getting anywhere.

    I was hoping someone might have had a similar problem and fixed it, or simply knows how to fix it.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Godaddy doesn't install to good on a windows server? I have been with them for over 3 years now with no problems. Zen Cart installs better on a Linux server. You can let Godaddy set it up for you or if you can not figure out. Just go to your Hosting Control Center and click on the your Applications after that on the right click on eCommerce Solutions and you can install zen cart. Hopes this will help.
    Is your site Upgraded to the current version 1.5.4 Yet?

    I'm using Go Daddy onj a windows server and not having the same issues. I did download Zen Cart from Go Daddy's applications. I have noticed that you can not change the permissions thru Filezilla but also noticed that most files are protected thru the .htaccess files and the permissions, while they look read-write-execute on Go Daddy's file area most do not show the same permissions... in fact at best they are read-write only on a few folders but not the files themselves. All configure files look like they are fine.
    I may not be reading this right, but it does seem to save a bunch of hassle using Go Daddy's download and then add mods or add-ons as needed.
    My only complaint is that the demo site is not uploaded so you really have to learn without examples
