Default 2006 MySQL server has gone away ...

I'm randomly getting the following error on my site:

2006 MySQL server has gone away in: [select code, title, symbol_left, symbol_right, decimal_point, thousands_point, decimal_places, value from zen_currencies] 2006 MySQL server has gone away in:

I'm not checking out, not clicking anything, it just comes up 1/5 times when I visit my TLD.

I DO NOT have GoDaddy hosting. I have HostGator. I've spoke with HostGator to see if I could set CURL Proxy Status to off, which I cannot.

    Any ideas?

"2006 MySQL server has gone away" errors are a result of timeouts occurring due to slow responses from external resources or a very slow webserver running your site.

You've not given any information other than who you're hosted with. Is there anything more you can tell us?

I'm not sure what other information I can include, everything worked fine, for awhile, then all of my sites running Zen-Cart started doing that. I haven't seen any effect in sales, but I just noticed today.

See, that's another piece of information you didn't give in the first place. Rather than go one-by-one, why not give us a lot more of the big picture up-front.

Click the reply button below (left-hand side, says "reply" on it). When the next screen appears, there are about 10 questions listed there right above the spot where you would type in your post. They were there when you clicked the "new thread" button to start this discussion. Might be a good idea to start with those and see where that takes us.
