Default International Orders AVS Error Authorize Net?

Hi there...not sure if this is an Authorize Net issue or a Zen Cart issue or both. But figured I would post it here to maybe get an answer and/or to help other people that might have the problem in the future.

We recently put a NEW AuthorizeNet account info onto our version of Zen Cart. Everything worked fine before, but over the past week we've had several people from other countries (we're in the US) outside the US contact us and tell us they can't place an order because the system is saying their billing and credit card addresses don't match. One person said they got and AVS error, which is what it is supposed to be, I think.

Can anyone help us out? I also have someone asking around at Authorize Net.

    Thanks!

Authorize.net allows you to choose at what point a transaction fails. Go to "Your account" "Settings" "Security Settings" in Auth.net and check to see what you have set up.

Very few international credit cards return proper AVS response so make sure your auth.net account is not set to reject this.

Fantastic. I'll have our person that knows Anet handle that. Thanks!

    Friends,

I found this thread via a Google search. I am not a Zen cart user.

But I have information that may be of help. We use Authorize.net and have AVS set for "N." Today we had a customer from Dublin, and he was rejected three times due to AVS. As we all know, not everyone in the world uses US-style addresses.

So I contacted Authorize.net. They sent me to Elavon, our provider. I spoke to a real live human at Elavon who told me that if I remove all AVS requirements I will be charged a higher rate on all of my transactions, international or not. She wouldn't cite the percentage, but a Web search indicates that it's about 1% extra.

Fortunately, I was able to manually (virtual terminal) enter our customer's information, and, even with AVS still enabled it "took."

Very confusing. The key point is to make sure you aren't opening yourself up to extra charges by disabling AVS.

    Best,
    Alfred Glossbrenner
