red flag Is the Auspost module for me?

    Hi everyone!

I am looking to expand our shipping to cover international postage as up until now we have just been shipping locally.

The issues is that we use Eparcel in Australia and offer that at a flat rate to our Australian customers so is that going to be an issue with the AusPost module? Am I able to set regular Aus mail to be a flat rate with the module?

    Thanks in advance!

Mmm we too are moving to eparcel as customers are demanding tracking. Rod I know from previous posts that this is not available with your aust post module, do you know what others do? Thanks

Eparcel and Australia Post are pretty much mutually exclusive, in other words, those that use the Eparcel service are not likely to be using Australia post over_the_counter at the same time (or vice verci).

To the best of my knowledge the Eparcel software is a proprietary system with no means for other software able to be integrated or used the system. I suspect the client software *could* be reverse engineered and/or the data packets captured in order to determine the server requirements, but without a working Eparcel account to work with it isn't something that just anyone can do.

I suspect that zencart merchants using Eparcel are probably using zen-cart zone rates or possibly even a fixed price quotation method.

I've no idea how close the over_the_counter shipping charges compare with the Eparcel charges either, but I guess that if they do follow a similar cost structure there is no reason why the AustPost/ozpost module couldn't still be used for quotations, even though it will lack the tracking information. This being the case, the tracking information could be sent to the customer in a followup email when this information is known.

    Cheers
    Rod
