Define pages editor where did I go wrong?

Hi all,

I have just bought a "ready loaded" zen cart and am trying to customise it myself. I have been reading forums and using trial and error as this is all new to me. I am unsure what version I have.
I changed the text on my main page using Tools/Define Pages Editor and the text and spacing look great. When I view the page via the website the text is all bunched up.
So, I then went in via the host site to includes/languages/html_includes/define_main_page_php. I right clicked on this and selectd edit to make the spacing bigger. Nothing happened. I tried it on something else and the text appeared for me to edit. Am I doing this right, should I be able to edit this way??
Any advise would be great please.

When you go to Tools/Define Pages Editor, you can select an editor other than just Text. This will allow you to edit like with an word processor. Standard should be HTML Editor, you can install FCKeditor as well. You can find it in the Free Software Add Ons, link on top of this page.

When I made the amendements I was using the HMTL editor, and all looks good on there.
I am hindered at the moment as I am trying to solve this while at work - under the radar - so cannot download anything. I have tried contacting my host but am still waiting for a response. Am I allowed to show the link to my site so you can see what I mean??
