change product page layout

I would like to change the product pages for specific categories and individual product pages... stuff like change the header font, positioning, add my own buttons, space out the page so it doesn't look so compact - can anyone direct me?..

Global change is a simpler matter....for only specific categories, some crafty code will be required

If the changes you want to make require only CSS changes, then you can create page-specific stylesheets containing those changes. Read how in the readme file in the default css folder.

But if you need to fiddle with code, kobra is right -- as usual.
