    Default Google analytics problem installing

I'm trying to install an add on for google analytics. In the Read me info, it's telling me to install a piece of code into this file

    /includes/templates/[your_template]/common/tpl_main_page.php

(my template is ''classic") I do NOT have this file. Searched throughtout my file manager, seached in Developers tool kit. Other templates that I DON'T use, that are in my directories DO have this file. But my template doesn't.

Any suggestions? Is there a simpler way to install google an?

The add on I'm trying to install is here

Huh? Holy cow. Does this mean I have to re-do my whole site from scratch?

    NO! Read the tutorials

Just create a folder named for your template and replicate in all places where you have edited files that exist in a classic folder.

Copy these edited contents from classic folders to your folders

Create a template_info.php with your template name now select it from the admin and reset the side boxes - you will have to re-do your sidebox selections and order

Now when you upgrade and all classic folder contents get overwritten, your customizations are safe

Thank you SO much. OMG, I almost had a coronary! lol. I was just reading the links (above). Very helpful. It's funny when I started this site, I just assumed that CLASSIC was an 'option' of templates available for use. So I just didn't read that whole thing about Classic Templates. Big BIG DUH.

Thanks again, I really appreciate all your help.

    Back to your original issue:
    /includes/templates/[your_template]/common/tpl_main_page.php

Just make a copy of this file from
    /includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_main_page.php

And place it in your template after adding the Google code

Thank you so much again. I suppose that would explain the reason why I didn't have that file in my classic template!
What a moron I am. Oh, I just feel so dumb.

I sure hope that all your nice-ities come back to you ten fold. You've really saved me here. Thanks again.

Totally Zenned, hope you are still here. :)
I'm adding all the files now for my custom template.
It's not as bad as I thought. But I'm wondering....for instance, under:
    includes
    languages
    english
    modules
    order total

there was already 'classic'. So I added my new template: CustomAventine

Now, before I added the new folder, CustomAventine...there were already a list of files under there ie. ot_cod_fee.php, ot_coupon.php and etc etc.

I don't have to copy all those folders, right? They will be used by the new CustomAventine template without me doing anything to those, correct?

Not folders - only files - look in the folders for a classic if there then the files in that folder can be overriden.

ONLY copy the files that you have to edit to the override folder(s) If you do not need to edit it then DO NOT copy the file. The default files will be used if there is not an edited copy in an override folder

I'm still having issues with this:

    Code:
    Back to your original issue:
    /includes/templates/[your_template]/common/tpl_main_page.php

Just make a copy of this file from
    /includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_main_page.php

And place it in your template after adding the Google code
    My issue:
    Under includes/templates/CUSTOM
I only have the following folders:
    css
    images
    template_info.php

I do not have a Common folder. (or any of the other multiple folders that template_default has.)

*I originally created my site using CLASSIC (thinking it was a template choice. I know, duh) I've since copied all that and saved as my own template. But now I'm thinking I missed all this stuff re: COMMON folder, etc etc.

Are ALL the folders under template_default supposed to be copied?
And if so, are all the FILES inside them supposed to be copied as well and put under CUSTOM so that the CUSTOM (in the file manager) looks JUST LIKE the list and contents of the template_default?

    Thanks.
