Homepage theme/layout ONLY

Hey guys I am using ZenCart 1.3.8a and i want to change the front page template.

I tried messing with the tpl_index_default.php page, however this seems to only control the content inside the center column of the index page.

I want my layout to only be changed on the front page. Having my boxes displayed horizontally so i can add some flash center peice on the front page.

Anyone know the files and or methods to accomplish this?

Have a look inside a copy of tpl_main_page.php as there is are many commented pieces of code to do several things

I believe your modified copy of the file would go into...

includes/templates/YOUR-TEMPLATE/common/

Yes, how ever I only want to override the homepage layout. Not every page.

I tried throwing the file in /index/ this also over-rides the entire website layout including all sub-pages/category pages etc.

I'm looking for the homepage layout *only*

I have solved the problem.

you need to have tpl_main_page.php inside of /common/ as well as /index/

/common/tpl_main_page.php // entire site layout
/index/tpl_main_page.php // homepage layout only

Houston we have a problem!

It seems as if the tpl_main_page.php in my /index/ also over-rides the category pages, but not my EZ-Pages or some of the login/signup pages.

the homepage has a top banner/focus image that should only be displayed on THAT page. Should i copy tpl_main_page into another folder to keep this from being overridden?

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to re-arrange the boxes on the homepage only? I would like to have the information box above the 'shop' box on the front page, but on all others to be below the shopping box.

Misty, thanks I will have to check that out.

I am not sure what you mean by it is altered for the homepage only.

I am just looking for control over the state in wich the homepage is being displayed so I can have a unique layout while at the index page.
