    Default Problem with Attributes

Sorry, I'm a bit of a zen cart newbie. I was tasked to take a golf supply store that currently uses a customized shopping cart and move it over to zen cart.

Now some of the products of this store are signs (like driving range signs) and most (but not all) of them can be made of three different types of materials. Of course the prices of these differ from material to material and for sign size.

Anyway, I thought I figured out how to add these materials as attributes to a product. The main problem, however, is that no matter what I do the attributes show up as radio buttons instead of the dropdown I have them listed as and to make matters worse all of the radio buttons are selected by default which I don't have enabled in the Attributes Controller screen for the one product I have installed so far.

So, how do I get it to make the attributes a dropdown?

Also, I was looking through the actual database and I noticed that there's a field that mentions an actual price for each attribute. I'm not talking about the field where you can adjust the base price of the product for the attribute selected. I need to be able to enter an actual price for each attribute. The products of this store don't have a base price, they just have a price for each type of sign and size of sign.

If you would like to see an example of what I mean go to the old store at tatsupply.com and the new store that I am setting up at 72.52.241.165. Like I said, the new store only has one product currently set up because I need to figure out how to do this before I worry about setting up the rest of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Attributes are a 2 step process
    Option name
    Option Value

It appears that you have created 3 option names....

Try creating one option name = material
Create 3 option values for this name as:
    Aluminium
    Lexan
    Styrene

The product entry needs to have no price stated and the "priced by attributes" selector selected

Looks as though you figured out how to add prices to the attributes

I'm also having difficulty with attributes. I have set up quantity discounts like this:

    Qty Discounts New Price
    1-4 $13.20
    5-9 $11.88
    10-19 $9.68
    20+$8.80

I want to add an option for adding a label to these products for .25 each. When this is selected, .25 is added to the base price of $13.20 instead of by the quantity discounts. Example, 5 products are added to the cart - instead of going in at $11.88 per + .25 per, it's going in as the base of $13.20 + .25 per. Anyone know how to fix this? I am going crazy...

Thank you for the information on part of what I was doing wrong. I really appreciate it. However I'm still having a problem with the attribute pricing.

The pricing you saw when you visited the new site was what I put in originally as the option value because at first that's what I thought that was for. Now I have redone it with an option name of Materials and 3 option values of Styrene, Lexan, and Aluminum. This all shows as a dropdown selection box like I wanted now but I have no prices entered.

I know that I can put a price in the Price field of the Prices and Weights section but from what I understand that simply adds or subtracts from the products base price. My problem with this store is that there is no base price, there is only a price per type of material. How do I enter the prices for these materials?

As I stated initially, "The product entry needs to have no price stated and the "priced by attributes" selector selected"
This is done when you create the product or the product entry screen. Then quoted from the tutorial:
Price can be entered with a prefix of + or - or blank.

+ and blank will add the attribute price
    - will subtract the attribute price
Use "blank" and enter the price

Thank you. I didn't know you could make the + or - sign field blank. That really helps me out a lot.
