I have an item that I need to sell that is heavy. However, I can ship it in a flat rate box for much less. Problem is that they can't select flat rate box from the shipping options (and I wouldn't want them to because they don't know what will fit into the flat rate box) except for this one item.

So my thought was to list the item as a free shipping item (as far as ZenCart is concerned) but force it to add the flat rate shipping if they put this item in their cart.

I thought about adding it to the product price and making it free shipping but then they have to pay sales tax on shipping and in Calif. shipping is not taxable.

Any ideas how I would go about doing this?

I'm on ZenCart 1.3.8
