Banners links just open new page that displays banner image!

A clients zencart-based website is experiencing a very strange issue with banner ad functionality since moving the site to a new server (SAME hosting provider, just new server). Since the move, banner ads that have links no longer work. When you click on a banner ad, instead of opening a new window and going specific URL like it should, clicking a banner ad now results in opening a new window displaying the banner ad image itself!

The problem is occurring on the following website:

http://www.mintunderground.com

I have troubleshooted this issue for weeks and have exhausted all ideas I even replaced the page template files with fresh unmodified ones and it still does the same thing.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this and/or where to look to fix?
