Items that I don't have in stock (dropship) - How not to add shipping RATES!

Ok my client asked me if we could do this.. The store is up and running.. fine..

We need to add some more products to the cart, but these Items will NOT be at there location (canada).. They will be in the USA at the manufacture. and they will drop ship for them

Now the fun part....

1. How can I add them to the online store (Do i just add them normally with say a quantity.. so they always in stock?)
2. How can I add the right shipping amount for these SPECIAL Items, as sense we use Canada Post for shipping rates.. to calculate them from our Canada location, now when someone buys them they will be shipped from a USA location will mess things up..
3. Do we Not add shipping to these item - how do I do that..
4. We could put a disclaimer on these items that shipping will be added at a later time and give them an idea how much it will cost on the page..
5. Is there another way to do this if anyone knows

What method of shipping would match the drop shipper's charges?

Hi Ajeh - not sure what you mean.

As there is no method that would match.. as for example the online store is say in New York -

But the Manufacture is say in Canada (Alberta)

Now the online store gets a sale for this ITEM.. so the store doens't have any instock, so they call up the manufacture and then after they make it THEY WILL SHIP it for them..

But now the pricing of shipping will not be the same.. as the STORE is in the USA so the pricing will say be CHEEP to ship to say Montana..

Now the manufacture is in CANADA and the shipping just went up $10.00 to ship the same item.. But how can i now charge my user when they do this..

I'm thinking the only way is to use the shipping method i have with canada post.. then HAVE a disclamer on the site that the Store will all the USER with updated shipping priceing for this ITEM? as it might Be cheeper to ship or a couple more $$ to do this..

I know this isnt' the way online store work. but just need a solution..

IF your address was the Manufacturer's address for these Products ... what shipping method would work for these Products to match the Shipping that this Manufacturer would charge on the Drop Shipping?

The idea is, to mark these Products in "some manner" and "calculate the shipping" for these Products and add that shipping charge to the shipping charge calculated for everything else ...

It would need to be Some USA Postal Service.. as they will be shipped from the USA. To where ever..

But that lies the problem.. As online store again is in canada.. and we use the CANADA POST SHipping module.. And can't use the UPS one...

Is there a way to Put additional shipping on certain items

I know know other shopping carts do this by if for examle the weight is more they will tack on like $40.00.. (but that is if its a flat rate i'm thinking - cdn post is a live rate)

You can add additional weight ... or if you know that the items from the Manufacture ends up costing you 10% more you could customize the Canadian shipping module to add 10% more to the cost when products for this manufacturer is in the cart etc. etc. etc.

You can write the shipping modules to do whatever you want ... and if what you need is beyond your expertise, today, then there is always the Commercial Help Wanted ...
