h1 tags

I hope someone can help me.. I have no to little experience with Zen Cart or building a website all together, but I have a question. I hope this makes sense...

My h1 tags for my product category pages are made automatically the same as the ID categories on my page which appear on the toolbar on the left side of the page.

Is there a way I can make my h1 tags different from what is shown on the toolbar on the left side?

Do you mean that they have the same text content? That is how the system works - it displays the name you have given the category in both places. To use different text in the heading would require adding a new field to the database and using that for the <h1> content.
There could be a non-database fix for it, but that would also require a good amount of coding.

We often use an <h2> at the beginning of the product descriptions to accomplish an expanded title and longtail search opportunity.
