Considering Zen Cart: SEO

I'm considering going with Zen Cart. I need a solution that will support SEO URLS as well as configurable titles and meta descriptions.

This Zen Cart showcase store seems to have everything I need: http://www.earthenapparel.com/wallet...wallet-s29-001

It has SEO URLS, a good title structure, and a product-specific Meta Description.

Question: Is this something Zen Cart can do out of the box? Or is this a mod or custom coding?

Product and category pages meta-tags are fully supported out of the box.
SEO URLs are not - you'll need an add-on module like Simple SEO URLS (available from the Add-Ons link at top of page)

High search rankings don't totally depend on these however: it is possible to achieve top ranking without SEO URLs. As an example of a top-ranked zen cart site, check the first ranked site on google for the keywords "ak47 buffer"

Thanks very much for the tip! Simple SEO URL looks promising. I agree that SEO urls aren't the be-all end-all for search engine rank. However, when you are going after highly competitive keywords they are a big help.

Or put another way: better SE rank = more traffic = more potential customers = more potential income. Why not do everything you can to help yourself succeed?
