barcodes and inventory management

Hi, We are cinductiong our 3rd stocktake and the entire process is painful. We use Magnetic Ones store manager so we can input the changed easily enough. It is the indentification of the product names to the items that is taking the time.

If we used a scanner and the barcodes this would be so much quicker. I read about the barcodes for invoices modules, but was not sure if they would account for stock as well. happy to be enlightened here.

I also wan't sure if this would conflict with the Mangetic One store manager, I have written to them to ask.

So what do other people do for this issue? We have over 3000 individual items, doing this is really really horrible.

I'll be really, really interested here aswell.

Our shop will have online inventory that is also on sale instore.
I'm concerned we can sell the same product twice.

I have made a mysql table containing all the products (inclusing barcodes) and I aim to integrate the two (the actual shop and the virtual). But no idea until the shop is up and running...

Is there seriously no-one who ha sa solution to this? someone must be doing it? How? Come on the challenge is out there!!!!!

The Numinix Barcodes module assigns a unique barcode to each product, and even stock by attributes product (if that module is installed).

The old name of the module (Barcodes on Packing Slips) may be misleading.

Numinex, How does that module locate the barcode identification and then input quantities that are scanned? It looked to me that is only allows for the abrcode data to be within the database, but please correct me if I am wrong? Thanks Jazzah

Ok I have found some stock inventory software that uses a barcode scanner and creates a csv file. Now I need to know how to import that into Zencart, so that it changed the products stock levels accordingly. We don't have easy populate, as we have used Store Manager, but i think we can still instal easy populate, programmer was a bit nervous about it! Is this the best way ti upload CSV file? Any help appreciated. Thankyou

Wow that is a good looking store! Hey let me know if you get the barcode thing figured out...I often take my stock to fairs and sell it there, would be great to have something i could scan the product and it would be taken off the shelf in zencart
