Selecting Product Type with on new product page

Hi,
We have created a product type that is not for sale, just display, and it works well, but every time we add a product like that, we need to go back into the database and modify product_type.

Is there any code to put somewhere to add a radio/dropdown selection of which product_type you want a new product to be?
That would help out a ton!

I didn't see anything about it in any search, just mostly setting up different products.

Just before you click New Product ... did you try the dropdown next to that to pick your Product Type?

of course not!
it looked to me being in a list of current products in a category to be a filter, not an option for a new product.
