I am customizing the page content and adding images to a new category, and when I test the page in a live browser, it is blank. Other pages show up, but not the new products in the new category. If I delete the product, the category is visible. If I add a product, the whole thing dissappears.. Any help would be appreciated.

How many products do you have in the category?
If there is only one product, by default the category page will be skipped and go straight to its product. You can reset this in admin if you want.
Configuration > Layout Settings > Skip 1-prod Categories
