Default Adding attribute cost to total items, not per item

    Hi,

I'm new to Zen Cart, I'm getting there but still have a few issues.

At the moment I'm adding attributes to my products and I'm looking for a way to just add the attributes to the total order, not per each order.

For example, if I was selling shoes and want to offer the customer extra laces he might want to order 3 pairs of the same shoe and select 1 extra pairs of laces on the shoe product page, at the moment when I select 1 pair of extra laces it adds 3 pairs of laces to the Cart (1 for each pair of shoes), I just want it to add 1 pair.

Is attributes the wrong way to be doing what I'm trying to do?

    thanks

You could set an Attribute for the Laces and the Price on the Attribute's One Time Charge ...

If I ordered 3 Brown Shoes with Laces, the One time charge would apply ...

But if you want to be able to order 2 Brown, 4 Black and 1 White of the Same Product ... the 1 Time Charge would treat each Color as separate Products so you would get a 1 Time Charge on the 2 Brown and a One Time Charge on the 4 Black and a One Time Charge on the 1 White ...

Thanks Linda, I thought about that, what would happen if someone ordered 3 pairs of shoes with 4 pairs of spare laces, would they just be charged for 1 pair of laces if I use "One Time Charge"?

    thanks

Ah, ignore that last post, I just tried it and it's working (by setting separate attributes for 1, 2, 3 etc extra items), the only issue now is that it ignores the weight of the attribute when calculating the total, is there any way to apply a one time charge and and have it adding the weight to the shipping calculation?
