    Default QUestion on Drop Shipping

    Hello,

I am new t o zen cart and have a question that has me confused.
I will be drop shipping 90% of my products from many different suppliers. What confuses me is this:

Say I have a customer who comes on and buy 3 different items. Those items each come from a different supplier. Each supplier wants to charge 4 bucks to ship that one item. My customer will have to pay 12 dollars for shipping? If my customers items were to come from the same supplier he would probably only pay 6 dollars shipping.
I cant help but ask myself how in the world does someone keep customers if that is how drop shipping works. Am I missing something?

    Thank you, Jared

Seems to me you'd just want to charge all of your customers the same amount --say $6.00 for shipping. If someone orders from more than 1 supplier, just eat the extra shipping charges.. Hey at least they are ordering from you. Charging per supplier just seems like overkill and seems certain to displease your customers.

    Hi,
The only way this works well is if you have a store for each supplier and a link for each store to each store makes it a lot easier to manage.

I have a similar situation - 3 dropshippers, and in house inventory.
    1. I have set it up that only one drop-shipper has low-cost/low margin items, so I can recoup some of the double-shipping costs on the higher priced item from my inventory or other drop shipper.
    2. If I have low cost items in my inventory, I price them higher to compensate for a double-shipping situation, and then pair them with a Better-Together to help them move at a more satisfactory order price.

In the payment modules (Admin > Modules > Payment) look for flat rate.

Add a whole new store for each supplier? Tail wagging the dog. And the poor customer experience => lower sales.
