    Default Upload Problems

Hello...I am new to Zen Cart and I'm sure I'll have a ton of stupid questions! I've been reading the tut's and posts but sometimes it's more educational to have someone tell me what I'm doing wrong!

My first problem is trying to change "Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Zen Cart™ E-Commerce Solution." I followed the tut but when I upload the edited file, it displays a blank page on my home page! I am positive that I didn't make an edit mistake, but I suspect my upload technique. What do you guy use for FTP? ASCII, Binary or Auto? What about passive, on or off? I'm using SmartFTP...and never did get the hang of it! LOL

I just installed v1.3.8a of Zen from Fantastico one click in my cPanel! All went good until now! LOL

So if anyone wnats to take me under their wing and show me the way to perfect Zen...I'm all ears!

Usually - not always - a blank page means there is garbage in the file you've uploaded. What are you editing the file with?

I'm using notepad to edit. It was just replacing the text...I'm sure I didn't add any garbage to the file. I have since tried uploading the edited file via SmartFTP, cPanel and Filezilla...all with the same results. White page of doom! LOL

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong?

What's on line 52? of that file? Is it blank? Remove the blank line and see what happens

Line 52 seems to be the first line that I edited with my welcome message. I was sure to leave the ' ' and all, I only replaced the text I needed to...?

Resolved! Marg found the problem...an apostrophe was the culprit! Replaced with \' and it works fine!

What can I say...I'm new to php!

Those ' in an english files will get you every time!! Blank pages galore... Always preface them with a \ as in - I\'m a great product and We\'re going to ship blah blah balh-ish.. This pertains to your includes/english/etc.. files/ Language files DO NOT like apostrophes...
