    Default can't keep base price the same without adding attributes...Help!

    I am adding price attributes to my products.

    Here's the problem. I have an item for $3.99 for (1), $9.99 for (3), and $26.00 for (10) on the same product which has a drop down name value and 1,3 and 10 for values option.

    In the product attributes I have given this item a value of $3.99 (this shows up on the product page to the customer).

    If I add $3.99 to the price attribute and click on checkout...my total has doubled to $7.98.

    I have de-selected the product and price attribute on both to "NO" (product is not based on attributes)...and I still get the double pricing through checkout.

    If I put a price of $.00 in the pricing attributes...then my drop down list says 1= $.00, and so does my checkout total.

    If i put a $.00 in my product attributes for this item, the base price of $3.99 does not show to the customer on the product page.

    What am I doing wrong?

    I want it to look like this (and it does now as a drop down list), but the product price changes to double in checkout if chosing quantity 1, it adds $3.99 if chosing quanities 3 or 10:
    (dropdown): Quantity (name value), 1=$3.99
    3=$9.99
    10=$26.00

    How can I stop the $3.99 add on and still keep the base price showing on the products page to the customers?

    Thanks for your help!

    Default Let me start over...that was confusing...here it goes..

    Here's what I have on one product in a drop down list:

    Quantity: 1=$3.99
    3=$9.99
    10=$26.00

    By clicking on anyone of those choices in the dropdown list to put into my cart...the cart automatically adds $3.99 to each of the choices. (Quantity PLUS Base)

    My base price is: $3.99 on my products attributes page and I have chosen NO, for product is based on pricing attributes.

    In pricing attributes, I have entered in $3.99, $9.99, & $26.00 (accordingly with it's option value. I have also clicked on NO, for product is based on pricing attributes.

    I still get the $3.99 added on in checkout for each of the 3 choices...what am I doing wrong?

    I have tried to set the product base attribute pricing to $.00 (The price does not display on the product page when doing so to customers). But it does show the correct price in checkout for the quantity selected!

    I have tried setting the pricing attribute to $.00 (This displays as $.00 in the dropdown list on each of the 3 choices), and it also displays as $.00 in checkout, even though I have kept the base price in the products page as $3.99.

    Anyone have a clue how I can get this right and have the base price displayed on the products page and the dropdown list without having it add $3.99 to each quantity in checkout?

    I've spent 3 long days trying to figure this out...any help would be appreciated!

    You're right, your description was confusing. Both of them. <g>

    If I understand you right, you are selling a product we'll call X.

    If a buyer purchases 1 X, he pays $3.99

    If a buyer purchases 3 X, he pays $9.99 ($3.33 each)

    If a buyer purchases 10 X, he pays $26 ($2.60 each)

    If he can also purchase 5 X for $3.33 each, or 15 X for $10.60 each, there is a simpler way to do it. Get rid of the attributes and go to Products Price Manager. Select X and click "edit." Click on the "add blank discounts" button.

    For discount 1, minimum quantity is 3, discount type is actual price, discount value is 3.33

    For discount 2, minimum quantity is 10, discount type is actual price, discount value is 2.60

    Agree. The product discounts feature is designed to do this. Attributes aren't.
