German Language Pack

I'm trying to add some language packs to my site. I've uploaded all the files from the german language pack but when I try to add it in the languages section of the admin panel I keep getting an error.

MISSING LANGUAGE FILES OR DIRECTORIES

It keeps shortening the actual directory that I'm putting in is there a way to extend the number of characters it will let me enter becasue I think thats the problem.

I've sorted it. Was just being a bit thick sorry.
