HTML/Site created in webplus, how to get into ZenCart?

ok, so im sure im doing this the most bass-aquard way possible.. but im just working within the limitations of my knowledge to accomplish what i want to do.

i have a "site" created in webplus x2... which is an html based program. when i upload it to my domain, it provides and index page, and then each page is a separate html file.

i have used this program, because i liked the easy setup of the menus, buttons, links etc (drag and drop, resizing etc)... i know enough to know how i want it laid out, but not enough to do it from scratch.. and this program fit the bill...

until..
i got to the shopping cart part. ultimately, i cannot use paypal payments pro with webplus. it is set up to always link the customer offsite, which was i was avoiding with the paypal pro.

basically i want my webplus layout, with zencart checkout and database management...

now, the way i see it i have two options (please let me know if you can think of a better way!!)

1. use webplus, and use iframes to link to a concurrent zencart site in a different folder but still on my domain... however, not to mention iframes arent really a good way to do it... also, the contents of the iframe are not picked up in a site search.

2. integrate these html files into my zencart, or convert them to .php thru adobe dreamweaver.... i found a post about this, but need more detail...

i follow directions well, so if someone can give me some input, be patient and give me step by step directions... i can get this done!

The way to go is to apply the design to your Zen Cart template. Depending on the details, it can be easy or difficult... a link to see your layout (live if possible) will help us give the best advice.
Don't try to turn it into PHP with Dreamweaver, as that will not be compatible with the existing ZC file structure.

Nice design, and will not be difficult to convert to a Zen Cart template, though there will be a lot of details to work through.

Start by installing Zen Cart in a subfolder, with its demo products, and playing with it to see the existing options for functionality - you may see some you like as well or better than something you have now, or get ideas you hadn't thought of.

You will want to turn off the right sidebar (admin switch), and set the left sidebar to be hidden on certain pages (simple edit to the tpl_main_page.php file in your template).

The content of some of your existing pages can be copied into define pages or ez-pages in ZC admin.

In short, get started, study the tutorials and search the forum for any questions you have, and if you don't find an answer that way, ask here.

ok, so i have zencart installed already in a neighboring folder (catalogzen) with a dark template installed and a mod or two...

can you explain in more detail how exactly i would do this:

i think i know how to work with the images mostly, like header etc...

the big ? for me is stuff like the catalog menu on the left..?

Essentially, you can copy the HTML of the main content column from your existing site into a define page in Tools > Define Pages Editor, or into an ez-page in Tools > EZ-Pages. DO NOT copy entire HTML pages with <head>, <body>, etc. tags, just the relevant HTML for the content.

Categories Dressing can let you replace your category names with images.

ok, so i really dont know html well enough to know what to copy and what not to... but im pretty good at experimenting until i get it right...

i am going to copy a full copy of the html for the webplus x2 main page... (seen here, www.customk9design.com/catalog)

if i were to integrate this into my zencart main page (www.customk9design.com/catalogzen)

what of this would go into a define page in Tools > Define Pages Editor??

Wherever there is an element with an id or class tag, you can move the style info associated with it to the stylesheet; elements with style info but no class tag should be given a meaningful class tag and their styling moved to the stylesheet with that tag.
For example,

ok, i think i can wrap my head around most of this... i def. understood the last part, explaining tagging items and moving their "description" to the css...

so that i can better understand this to move this same data on other pages on my own, what indicator were you looking for to know when the header, navigation etc stopped, and the "real" content started...??

will it always start with <div id ? or something recognizable like this so that i can easily know what above is junk, and below is usable?

not sure if such a vague question can be answered, but if it can... thanks!

i have a categories dressing ? too, but i'll send that over to that forum posting.
