Admin controlling 2 sites!

Hi there,
i have a website which i copied all the zencart folders and uploaded it to a new domain, as it had all the addons and styles that only had to be tweeked to suit new site.
i changeds all the www/..../url1.com to the the new www/.../url2.com that i thought i needed to

but when i deleted all the products from my 2nd site it also deleted them from my first site!!!!

i have trawled thought the FAQ and the forum looking for answers and i have trawled though my zen cart admin php files looking for the old URL
no images have changed its just the category pages inc all the pages under the define pages link.

is there something obvious i have missed???

You could have 100 "sites" pointing to ONE database but the principle will remain...

... it's still ONE database, so whatever you add to, or subtract from it will be common to all 100 "sites" (ie: front-ends).

It appears that you do not fully understand the principle of dyanmic content websites. There are some good online tutorials which you should do.

... besides, it's very risky running one dbase through several "sites".

Look at the multisite module if you want a proper way of doing this.

sorry i think i didnt explain what i want to do

i want 2 seperate websites with 2 seperate admins

i liked the look of my first site and all the addons i have so i simply downloaded my first site and up loaded it to my 2nd url where i haved changed the whole look.

the sites sell 2 completely different lines of products so i dont want a linked database

i want to stop them being linked so i was wondering if anyone knows what file(s) need to be changed to stop the 2 admins being linked

your configure.php files have section for database connection . your second store needs to point to new database with proper username and pass .

Yes... what you have done is "clone" your original site and have forgotten that the CONFIGURE files are still pointing at the same resources as the original site!

As Tony says... create a NEW database (by all means it can be a "copy" of the original*** as well), and make sure the configure files are pointing to it... (as well as getting them to point at all the COPIED resource folders/files as well...).

*** You will need to run "fix_cache_key.php" on the new site if you "clone" a database...
