Issues with test site and Wamp

Hi All,

I recently created a test site with Wamp and attempted to create a mirror image of my 'live' site and ran into some problems. Hoping someone can help me out.

I basically FTP all files from my 'live' site and copied them over to my test site (minus the 2 config files). Some stuff copied over and others didn't.

For instance my Google analytics and some of my sidebox additions and revisions i made to my metatags.php file copied over.

My Image Handler 2 only shows up in the Tools area and not Configuration area of Admin.

Any new content i added with 'Define Pages Editor' did not transfer over...I only see old content.

Most of all, my custom template did not transfer. It shows up in my Tools>Template Selection area but I can't access the files.

I would like to upgrade to 1.3.8 zencart soon and worried that I may get these issues when I do.

Any ideas why I may having these issues?

It sounds like all or part of your database didn't transfer. I assume you made a database backup and brought it into your computer, then installed that?

I didn't even think about that...didn't realize database would have any impact on my custom template (tells you how much i know )

Not sure about the template itself, but Image Handler and the changes you made using the define pages editor both require the database.

The template may be missing a file or two, and then it needs to be reselected in admin/tools just like it was when you first installed it.

Remember also, that some add-ons require additional resources on the server that are not inherent in the ZC core code.

Image Handler2, for example, requires GD libraries or ImageMagick.

Local servers like WAMP and XAMPP are pretty generic in general - not like an extensively configured webserver.

I can't seem to get my head around this

I am not sure how to copy my database over. I have this tutorial, but right now it may as well be a different language

As of now, Wamp with test site installed>FTP all files to test site (minus config files) and now trying to figure out how to transfer database

I just don't know what the next step is...it's not clear in the tutorial.
