Pricing problem

Hi I am really new to Zen Cart but loving it already. Have a problem I entered my products and then turned on per unit shipping. everything looked great and then all of a sudden my prices increased by weird numbers? Any suggestions? Thanks

As we do not know what they were before how can we determine what might be wrong??

Stools were $35 now $42.70
Coat rack $40 now $48.80

What is the price in your product setup screen in the admin?
Do you have this set as "taxable"
The differences in both cases is 22%

For the coat rack I have $40 for tax class I have none
