Default Is this a Zen Cart site?

    Hi,

I was about to commit to a copy of Zencart until I stumbled upon this http://www.heliguy.com/ website. It has some very nice features and looks Zen-esk. In particular I like the product image and video gallery for an example see here http://www.heliguy.com/Extras/Radio-.../Spektrum-DX7/ and the auto enlargement when you hover over an image.

Can anyone confirm if this is a very nicely skinned Zencart with a few mods ? Or failing that what cart it is ?

It does not appear to be a Zen Cart, I would think it is a totally custom script.

Bugger, I quite fancied something that slick. Does ZenCart have a similar product image gallery addon ?

In the brief time that I was able to see it before the site crashed, I formed the hypothesis that that was a jQuery widget built to meet the specific needs of that site. Unfortunately can't confirm that until the site comes back. But I suspect that we will see a lot of similar widgets emerging for Zen Cart 2 when it is released with jQuery integrated.

This can be done easy enough, just some simple effect. The backend module which allows users to add video as well will require more time to work on though, the front end is very easy.

If you are to build such js, I do strongly suggest looking into the css/js loader here which will help you to load files correctly, avoid conflict and only when needed.

I was trying to avoid coding the thing myself, I can code but I am a little rusty. Does writing addons involve trawling through the Zencart source, or is it a bit more modular ?

The site appears to be back up again.
